   Home/Change Series

As early as the 1950's, Toei Animation began to leave its mark on animation history as one of the most influential studios of its time. With "Hakujaden", they delivered Japan's first full-feature color animation, and served as the artistic playground for young Hayo Miyazaki. Many of Toei's first works display a deep appreciation for traditional eastern-painting techniques, with stories deeply rooted in both Chinese and Japanese folklore. It is for these reasons that the Toei classics are so fascinating to me.
